Our philosophy is very simple - we only breed to improve the quality of our dogs.
It is limited by our ideas concerning the welfare of our "family" and what constitutes improvement. We are committed to good temperament and health/soundness overriding the benefits of improved conformation. We will not breed if either are in doubt, no matter how fine the potential conformation might be. We feel a strong sense of responsibility to the dogs in our family, as well as those we have produced, and treat them accordingly. Our concerns about the well-being of our family mean we limit breeding to adult dogs and we further limit the number of times they are bred. We also only breed finished champions. The result is that we have about one litter a year. Also, we only breed to keep a puppy for ourselves.
Our breeding program is generally based on line-breeding with an eye toward temperament and genetic concerns. We believe this provides the consistency in order to know what a breeding will produce and to stabilize the good characteristics in the line. We use limited outcrossing to improve features that are weak in the line or bring in desirable features not found in the line. These ideas loosely follow breeding principles outlined by successful breeders such as Lloyd Bracket, the father of the German Shepherd.
We believe we've been successful with this approach, having improved what we started with. We now have a kennel of sound, correct, happy dogs. They are as sweet as they are beautiful! We are very proud of what we've produced to date.
