The New Child in Your Home

Because the AKITA is hard-headed and can be aggressive under certain circumstances, it is imperative that the new puppy be properly socialized. (This must be in keeping with the recommendation regarding shots below). Socialization can be in the form of a structured activity, such as obedience or conformation classes, or can be simply a walk in the park among other people and other dogs. It is important that the puppy learn that other people and other dogs are not threats as long as you say so. Being among strangers will also increase the self-confidence of the dog and decrease an outburst of overzealous joy when meeting strangers. Although each puppy is genetically mapped at birth with its ultimate characteristics, it will never reach its full physical potential without the proper nutrition. All foods are NOT the same, if they meet required minimums or not. It has been shown that the minimum protein, fat, etc. makeup of a dog food can be met with ingredients such as old tires, shoes, charcoal, and other as desirable items. Generic or grocery store dog food is NOT recommended.
